Anticipation Builds for Condit Dam Removal (WA)

Ottawa-based videographer Mike McKay recently set out to film some of the great whitewater of the Columbia Gorge and document the building anticipation for removal of Condit Dam. Current Dam Removal Schedule:

2011

7/5: Work on Northwestern Reservoir Bridge Begins, Temporary Take-out upstream of bridge provided.

8/1: Reservoir closed to watercraft and drawdown begins

8/9: Drain tunnel drilled out at base of dam

9/28: Bridge work finished and access to take-out below bridge restored

10/26: Boom! Last few feet of concrete blasted and reservoir drained over six hours

2012

5/28: Dam removal begins

8/31 Dam removal complete

9/1: Restored White Salmon River open to boaters

10/12 Project complete
