Ottawa-based videographer Mike McKay recently set out to film some of the great whitewater of the Columbia Gorge and document the building anticipation for removal of Condit Dam. 2011

7/5: Work on Northwestern Reservoir Bridge Begins, Temporary Take-out upstream of bridge provided.

8/1: Reservoir closed to watercraft and drawdown begins

8/9: Drain tunnel drilled out at base of dam

9/28: Bridge work finished and access to take-out below bridge restored

10/26: Boom! Last few feet of concrete blasted and reservoir drained over six hours

2012

5/28: Dam removal begins

8/31 Dam removal complete

9/1: Restored White Salmon River open to boaters

10/12 Project complete
