National Whitewater Inventory

The river list selection page gives an overview of real-time information that we can track on a state-by-state basis. We track information for the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. Other territories are available at user request. River information is maintained by volunteers who are registered website users. These volunteers provide river descriptions, gage information, directions, safety information, and the other information that you see on our website. We give our editors credit in the river descriptions and also by recognizing recent edits to river pages. By choosing the edits option or the top 100 edits at the top of the page you can see who has been recently working on streams to get an idea of what has been updated recently. http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/show-edits/state/*/

The option for reports shows the most recent photographs, manual gage and stream level reports have been filed with American Whitewater by filing date. You can pull up reports by state or by choosing the top 100 reports at the top of the river selection page. http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Report/list-recent/

State rivers can be viewed as alphabetic lists, or by drainages. The advantage of drainages is that rivers are grouped logically based on what watersheds they fall in. The advantage of seeing the alphabetic summary pages, is that you can sort the river list for the entire state by name, level, relative level (running or not), and the presence of upcoming events.
